Nocs Provisions started because the founder wanted binoculars that weren't bulky and expensive or small and cheap — something in between that you'd actually want to carry. The grip design pulls from vintage BMX mushroom grips, Frank Stella's work, and the natural patterns of sand dunes and ocean swells. Packaging is plastic-free, made from post-consumer recycled cardboard and soy ink, assembled without glue.

Frank Stella influence shows up in the grip texture, though whether Stella himself ever held binoculars while contemplating geometric abstraction remains a matter of speculation.
