Nocs was founded in San Francisco by someone who bought cheap binoculars to check the surf from the porch and couldn't find optics that hit the sweet spot between bulky-and-expensive and small-and-cheap. The team sketched and printed over twenty prototypes with a hand-built 3D printer, then worked with a manufacturer with over 35 years of experience to build compact binoculars with premium optical coatings, prism tech, and waterproofing. Design inspiration came from vintage BMX mushroom grips, Frank Stella's artwork, sand dune patterns, and ocean swells. Packaging is entirely plastic-free, using post-consumer recycled cardboard and soy ink, constructed without glue.

Air blower operates on the ancient principle of squeeze-thing-make-air-go, refined over centuries into a bulb you can honk at dust particles until they leave. Thirty milliliters of cleaning solution lasts either six months or three years depending on whether you're the kind of person who cleans lenses preemptively or only after noticing you've been looking at the world through a thumbprint haze.
