Emily Fischer founded Haptic Lab in Brooklyn after stitching quilted maps to help her mother, who was diagnosed with glaucoma, navigate by touch. That idea — objects you can feel, materials that spark memory — still shapes everything the studio makes. This kite is handmade in collaboration with Balinese artisans using ripstop nylon, bamboo, and string. It ships flat with basic kite flying twine and assembly instructions. Functional and flyable, it works best in strong wind on a beach or hilltop. It also doubles as a baby mobile. Hang it above a changing table, or take it to the coast and let it catch the wind. The construction is simple and sturdy. Ripstop nylon holds its shape. Bamboo flexes without snapping. String ties it all together. It's the kind of thing that moves between uses without complaint — air one day, decoration the next, then back outside when the weather turns.
