Is it a full-size splitting axe?+
No. At about 13.2 inches overall, it is a compact one-hand hatchet. Reach for a full-size axe when processing large rounds or doing sustained heavy chopping.
Can I carve with it?+
Yes. Its short handle and curved edge make it useful for roughing blanks and removing waste before a carving knife or gouge takes over.
What comes with it?+

Will carbon steel rust?+
It can if stored wet. Dry the head after use, apply a light film of oil for storage and expect a natural patina to develop over time.

Maintain the curve rather than flattening it. Use a puck, stone or fine abrasive in small blended passes, then remove the burr. If you are new to convex edges, follow a trusted axe-sharpening guide or use a professional.
