Mainers is the consumer line from Tempshield Cryo-Protection, a company that's been handcrafting cryogenic gloves for labs, the U.S. military, and NASA since 1980 out of Trenton, Maine — fifteen minutes from Acadia National Park. For forty years they've made protective gear trusted to handle liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen down to -320.8° Fahrenheit. These mitts bring that same expertise to everyday cold weather. All leather outer with wool pile lining and a knit inner cuff. Wrist adjust cord and precision stitching. Cut and sewn in Trenton using more than 95% U.S.-sourced materials. Many of the people sewing these have been with the company since the beginning, decades ago. Warmth rating 3 out of 6.
Four decades protecting hands from temperatures that would turn a banana into a hammer, now applied to the condition of standing outside waiting for the dog to finish sniffing things. Честное использование ресурсов, honestly.
