Chris Elfering started LOCHBY after his Army days because fountain pens deserved better paper. He found Tomoe River stock from Japan — 68 gsm, designed to handle ink without feathering or bleeding through — and built notebooks around it. This A5 refill has 72 pages of that paper, bound with stitching and wrapped in a kraft cover. It fits LOCHBY's Field Journal, Field Folio A5, and Daily Folio A5. Designed in the USA, paper from Japan, assembled in Taiwan.

Fountain pen people are intense about paper the way some people are intense about coffee beans. This is the paper they get intense about. If you use a ballpoint, it still works fine, but you won't get to feel smugly correct about gsm ratings.
