Packed in Five Minutes Flat
The grab-and-go kit for the person who says “let’s get out of town this weekend” and actually means it. A duffel that keeps your dirty shoes away from your clean clothes, a dopp kit made from waxed canvas that’ll outlast your twenties, a solid fragrance that smells like the Pacific Northwest, and a flashlight so small and bright it borders on showing off.

Why These Four
We Tested a Lot of Weekends
The Bag That Thinks Ahead
The States Duffel separates your dirty stuff from your clean stuff, which is the single most important feature a weekend bag can have. The snap-up divider keeps everything organized, and at 35L it’s the Goldilocks size — enough for two days, not enough to enable bad packing habits.
Smell Like the Outdoors
Canyon Drift is what you put on before you go out for the evening. Incense cedar, ponderosa pine, citrus peel. It wears light, applies to skin or hair, and won’t spill because it’s a solid tin. People will ask what you’re wearing. You get to say “wild-harvested Pacific Northwest plants” and watch their face.
Be Ready for Anything
The Baton 4 fits in a pocket and throws more light than you’d believe. Walking back to the cabin at night? Finding something in the back of the car? Unexpected power outage? 1300 lumens in a body smaller than a thumb drive. Up to 30 days of runtime. It’s the kind of thing you forget you have until the moment you need it most.
Built for the People Who Actually Go
The States Duffel was inspired by all-50-states family road trips, and it shows. 1000D Cordura that isn’t going anywhere, ripstop lining, YKK zippers throughout, and — the detail that matters most — a dedicated separate compartment for your shoes or dirty clothes. The person who invented that compartment is a hero. At 35L, it’s sized exactly right for a weekend: enough room to pack what you need without enough room to overpack what you don’t.
Frost River makes the dopp kit from hand-waxed cotton canvas with a waterproof Cordura lining and a deliberately boxy shape so you can actually see and reach everything inside. No mysterious corners where your razor goes to hide. White brass zip, nylon pull, built to survive the kind of travel that goes a little sideways. Frost River is based in Duluth, Minnesota, which is the kind of place that makes you trust the things they build.
Juniper Ridge makes Canyon Drift entirely from wild-harvested Pacific Northwest plants — no synthetics, no shortcuts. It opens with incense cedar and ponderosa pine and settles into something citrusy and resinous that smells like the high Cascades in golden afternoon light. It’s a solid fragrance in a 1 oz tin, so it won’t spill, won’t break, and lives happily in your dopp kit or your pocket. And the Olight Baton 4 is shorter than your index finger but throws 1300 lumens at 170 meters, with up to 30 days of runtime. It’s the flashlight that makes your phone flashlight feel like a candle.
Questions
The Stuff You Want to Know
What’s in this guide?
Four weekend travel essentials: a States Duffel Bag in Honey (1000D Cordura, 35L), a Frost River waxed canvas dopp kit, Juniper Ridge Canyon Drift solid fragrance (1 oz), and an Olight Baton 4 EDC flashlight (1300 lumens). Everything you need for a weekend away, minus the playlist. You’re on your own for the playlist.
Does the duffel really keep shoes separate?
Yes. There’s a dedicated compartment specifically for shoes or dirty clothes. It’s separate from the main space, so your trail shoes won’t contaminate your clean shirt. The snap-up divider in the main compartment adds another layer of organization. It’s the most thoughtful duffel we’ve come across, and we looked at a lot of duffels. A concerning number of duffels.
Do I get a deal buying these together?
That’s gas money for the trip. Or one really good roadside breakfast. We support either decision.
Will the fragrance spill in my bag?
No. Canyon Drift is a solid fragrance in a 1 oz tin. Solid means solid — it’s like a balm, not a liquid. No glass to break, no cap to come loose, no TSA concerns. Just open the tin, rub some on your skin or hair, close it, and go. It’s the most travel-friendly fragrance format that exists, and it smells like you spent the weekend in the Cascades even if you spent it at your in-laws’.
How bright is the Baton 4, really?
1300 lumens with a 170-meter throw. For context, a typical phone flashlight is about 40–50 lumens. This is roughly 30 times brighter, in a body shorter than your index finger. It runs for up to 30 days on lower settings. The Premium Edition adds a charging case that refills it five times and doubles as a USB-C phone charger. It will make your current flashlight quietly reconsider its career choices.
