Grapat
A family project. A child’s point of view.

It began with
watching a child play.

After watching their daughter turn everyday things into whatever she imagined, Grapat’s founders began making simple wooden play pieces in the Catalan countryside.

The name means “a handful” in Catalan. A handful of shapes, offered with care. Enough to begin something entirely their own.

Wood you can feel.Natural grain, warm textures, small differences that make each piece its own.
Color with character.Hand-applied stains let the grain show through, finished with plant-based oils and waxes.
Play with possibility.Simple forms invite children to invent their own stories and ways to play.
A little help for the grown-ups

Good things
to know.

Where should we begin?

Nins Tomten combines figures and loose parts in one set. Happy Place offers 40 shapes for building; Nins, Mates & Coins brings together little people, cups and coins for sorting and stories. One set is enough to start. Add more when it feels right for your child.

What ages are these pieces for?

Most sets in this collection are recommended for ages 3+ and include small parts. The 18 Rings set is listed for ages 18 months+. Grapat lists Woodland and the three wooden birds for ages 10 months+. Check the guidance in each product’s details and on its packaging. Keep small parts away from children under three.

What is open-ended play?

Play without one prescribed result. A wooden coin can be money, a stepping stone or a tiny plate. The child decides what it becomes, and the same pieces can take on new roles as their interests change.

Do the sets work together?

Yes—figures, building pieces and loose parts can share the same small world. Mix them with blocks or toys you already own. Check the individual set’s included pieces; extra scenery in play scenes isn’t included unless stated.

How does the collection builder work?

Choose any sets, or start with a suggested combination. Adjust quantities, remove pieces and review the total before adding everything to your Rarely bag together. The total is the sum of the individual prices, with no automatic bundle discount.

How do we care for the wood?

Store in a cool, dry place. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Grapat recommends avoiding soaking or disinfectants. Wood grain and small variations in color are part of each piece.
