The fire kit that fixes things

Prepared is not
the same as packed.

Most ferro rods do one job until they wear out. The fireROD XL carries the pieces that make the spark useful—and lets you replace the part that eventually wears down.

It rides in a standard knife-sheath ferro loop, keeps tinder sealed inside its machined body, and wraps roughly twelve inches of heavy-duty repair tape around the outside.

A complete ignition kit

Three essentials.
Nothing theatrical.

The fireROD XL puts the spark, protected tinder, and a backup fuel source in one durable tool. Each component is visible here exactly as it is.

01 · Strike

A substantial spark source.

The replaceable half-inch ferrocerium rod produces sparks up to 5,500°F and is rated for as many as 20,000 strikes.

02 · Catch

Dry tinder stays inside.

Unscrew the machined cap to reach quickLIGHT tabs or your preferred tinder, protected inside the waterproof capsule.

03 · Sustain

Repair tape earns another job.

Roughly twelve inches of heavy-duty tape can patch gear in the field or help carry the first spark into a working flame.

Wear out the rod, not the tool

Built to be used.
Then used again.

Up to 20,000 strikes is a long working life. When the ferrocerium is finally spent, the rod threads out and accepts Exotac’s replacement kit. The machined aluminum body, storage capsule, lanyard, and tape carrier stay in service.

Where it belongs

Close at hand.
Ready without digging.

The six-inch XL is deliberately larger than an everyday-carry firestarter. It is sized for the knife sheath, camp kit, vehicle bag, or field pack where reliability matters more than shaving every ounce.

Good to know

Before the first strike.

What is included?+

The fireROD XL includes its replaceable half-inch ferrocerium rod, machined storage body, roughly twelve inches of heavy-duty repair tape, and a 550 FIRECORD lanyard.

What can I store inside?+

The sealed capsule is sized for Exotac quickLIGHT tabs or your preferred tinder. The vendor also notes that it can carry water-purification tablets.

How do I strike it?+

Use the sharp spine of a bushcraft knife. Hold the rod close to the tinder and pull with firm, quick pressure so the sparks land where you want them.

Can I replace the ferro rod?+

Yes. The XL accepts Exotac’s 002030-KIT replacement rod, so the machined body does not need to be discarded.
